Family Counseling
Families are unique and each one has its own story that should be respected and heard. My job as a family therapist is to hear how people work as a team. What talents, strengths and resources must be present to maintain peace and harmony.
This is accomplished by picturing a future without the problem and how each member, both individually and together views life without the problem. My experience working in the school system gave me a unique opportunity to have conversations with parents, siblings and students. Families can keep the symptoms present without meaning to and in therapy we can co-construct a new interactional pattern that can create a new family legacy.
When families can focus on a time the problem is not present solutions begin to emerge. Families begin to make lists and encourage each other instead of breaking them down. Cohesion is established and a team begins to form.
